Day 1
Fly from the UK to Hanoi
Day 2
Hanoi
Welcome to Hanoi! Your adventure begins with a 6pm welcome meeting at the hotel, followed by a group dinner at KOTO restaurant, which helps disadvantaged youth pursue hospitality careers. If you arrive early, why not try some of the local cuisine, explore alleyways and markets, and enjoy a view of Hoan Kiem Lake. Alternatively, you could take a leisurely walk through the Old Quarter to admire the French-colonial architecture before meeting your guide and tour group in the evening.
Day 3
Halong Bay
Travel by minibus to Halong Bay, a World Heritage site with 1,600 limestone islands. There you'll board a private boat to explore Surprise Cave and in warmer months, swim at Ti Top Island Beach. End the day on the boat under the stars, enjoying a unique experience with your fellow travellers.
Day 4
Hanoi - Overnight train
Wake up in Ha Long Bay and visit the Green Life Centre, where discarded items are turned into beautiful handicrafts. Learn how to make a reusable bag from waste. Afterward, return to Hanoi by bus, arriving in the afternoon with free time before tonight’s train to Hue. Be sure to try a bowl of pho and relax by Hoan Kiem Lake before boarding the overnight train.
Days 5-6
Hue
Arrive in Hue this morning and transfer to your hotel. Once Vietnam's imperial capital, Hue is home to royal treasures. Enjoy free time to rest or explore—Dong Ba Market is perfect for sampling specialties like banh khoai. Later, visit the war-damaged ruins of the Imperial Citadel, including temples, state houses, and the emperor’s palace. The next day explore Hue like a local on the back of a motorbike with a guide. Visit the 18th-century Thanh Toan covered bridge, the Thien Mu Pagoda and finish with a visit to Emperor Tu Duc’s lakeside royal tomb before returning to town.
Days 7-8
Hoi An
Travel by bus this morning through coastal rice paddies and the stunning Hai Van Pass, with a photo stop along the way. Arrive in Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the well-preserved town retains its historical charm and is known for its tailors. Your leader will take you on a walk through the Old Town, visiting key attractions and you'll receive a sightseeing pass to explore more at your leisure. The following day is a free day to explore Hoi An at your leisure and you can take in the city however you please.
Day 9
Ho Chi Minh City
Take an early morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon, a hub of commerce and culture. Enjoy a sightseeing tour by bus, passing landmarks like the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Opera House. Visit the War Remnants Museum to learn about the Vietnam War.
Day 10
Mekong Delta - Ho Chi Minh City
Today you'll take a day trip to the Mekong Delta. Board a private boat to Ben Tre, visit coconut gardens and sample tropical fruits and coconut jams. Paddle in sampans through coconut trees, then take a tuk-tuk tour to learn about local industries. Enjoy lunch with regional dishes and then cruise back to the Ben Tre pier and return to Ho Chi Minh City by bus in the evening.
Day 11
Ho Chi Minh City
Enjoy a free day in Ho Chi Minh City to explore at your own pace, or take an Urban Adventures tour to the Cu Chi tunnels. Learn about guerrilla warfare as you explore this underground network used by the Viet Cong during the war. Return to the city for a 6pm meeting to welcome new travellers joining the next stage of your journey, followed by an optional group dinner.
Days 12-13
Phnom Penh
Travel by public bus across the border through rural Vietnam and Cambodia to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital. Located at the junction of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, the city features French-inspired architecture. For a drink, head to a rooftop for a mojito, or visit the Psar Thmei (Central Market) or Psar Tuol Tom Pong (Russian Market) for local souvenirs. The following day, you'll learn about Cambodia's tragic past with a guided tour of the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, however if you'd prefer not to join these activities your local leader can suggest some alternatives. Afterwards you may also opt to visit the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, Wat Phnom and the National Museum with its Khmer collection. Alternatively, you could take a cyclo tour around the city, passing sites like the Central Market, US Embassy, and Royal Palace.
Day 14
Battambang
Travel by private minibus to Battambang, with a stop in Kampong Chhnang on the way to visit pottery workshops. Battambang is Cambodia's second-largest city and is known for its French colonial charm and friendly locals. Explore the town at your leisure, or join an optional cooking class to learn how to make local dishes like amok, Khmer curry, and spicy fried chicken.
Day 15
Siem Reap
Today you can cycle through the countryside around Battambang, visiting rural villages and local families who produce traditional goods like rice paper, dried bananas and bamboo sticky rice. Enjoy coconut water while chatting with locals about their lives. In the afternoon, you'll travel by minibus to Siem Reap and arrive in the evening. Relax and prepare for your Angkor visit tomorrow, or explore the markets for street food at your leisure.
Days 16-17
Siem Reap / Angkor Wat
Start the morning early at Angkor Wat to watch the sunrise (weather permitting). Then, explore the Angkor complex with your guide, visiting temples like Angkor Wat, Bayon, and Ta Prohm. Dating back to the 9th century, these temples are known for their stunning architecture and intricate bas-reliefs. The main temple cluster is close to Siem Reap, offering ample time to fully appreciate this incredible archaeological site. The following day you will continue your explorations of the Angkor complex and in the afternoon, you will be embarking on a private local boat to discover the floating villages at Chhong Kneas, a trading port of on the edge of Tonle Sap Lake, also known as the Great Lake of Cambodia.
Days 18-19
Bangkok
Today, travel by private minibus from Siem Reap to Bangkok. Arrive in Thailand’s vibrant capital, where tuk-tuks, khlong boats and street vendors create a lively atmosphere. Consider sampling local dishes for a final farewell with your fellow travellers. Your tour ends the following morning and you are free to leave whenever you like.
