This North Island gem is full of amazing sights and experiences. One of the most popular things to do is to stroll along Marine Parade and gaze at the incredible Art Deco buildings, as Napier is home to some of the best-preserved architecture of this style in the world. Other must-do activities include taking a dip in the Ocean Spa, wandering around the MTG Hawke’s Bay museum, and checking out Ahuriri – a historic fishing village, which is home to some of Napier’s best cafes and restaurants. Just a short drive away, you’ll find Hawke’s Bay’s world-renowned wineries where you can take a guided tour, sample some of the local vino or just enjoy beautiful views of the countryside.

This charming coastal town has plenty to offer year-round, so it all depends on personal preference. Summer (December to February) is undoubtedly the most popular time to visit and is the perfect opportunity to hit the beach and enjoy some of the town’s outdoor events and festivals. As the weather begins to cool and roll into autumn (March to May), the vineyards come to life with the harvest season. During this time visitors can enjoy tastings, tours and plenty of delicious wine-centric events. Winter (June to August) is a great time to throw on a coat and scarf and explore the town’s galleries, shops and cafes, while spring (September to November) is a great time for taking a walking tour of the Art Deco architecture or enjoying a scenic drive.

Take a guided tour of Art Deco architecture, roll out a towel on the beach, visit the National Aquarium of New Zealand, sip your way around the nearby wineries, wander along Marine Parade, check out MTG Hawke’s Bay museum or just eat (and drink) your way around. One thing is for certain, you won’t be bored in Napier.
