Frequently asked questions

Do I need a car to get around Dallas?

Nope, Downtown Dallas is walkable and there are plenty of public transport options available including trolleys, electric scooters, bicycles, buses and the DART Rail to name a few. No wheels, no worries.

Where is the best part of Dallas to stay?

The majority of Dallas’ tourist attractions are found in the city centre, making Downtown an ideal base for your city adventures. Here you’ll find the Main Street District, Dallas’ renowned arts district, plenty of restaurants and bars, and – if you’re into dark tourism – it’s also where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

When is the best time to visit Dallas?

Between September and November is the ideal time to visit Dallas as the days aren't blisteringly hot and the bulk of the tourist traffic has eased. Oh, and added bonus, the State Fair of Texas is in full swing. And who doesn’t love a State Fair?

What is there to do in Dallas?

Eat your way around the many Texas BBQ joints, sip your way along Margarita Mile, see the sombre site where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, hit the Dallas Zoo, catch a Dallas Cowboys game, do some museum meandering, hit up a live music gig, shop up a storm in Las Colinas and wander around the arts district. Dallas is a culinary and cultural smorgasbord of things to see, do and delight all of your senses.

Is downtown Dallas walkable?

Absolutely! In fact, Dallas ranks pretty high on the walkability scale and you can get in and around Downtown in around 30-minutes. There are plenty of restaurants all within a hop, skip and a jump of hotels and apartments, so be sure to pack your walking shoes.

What to take on holiday to Dallas?

It’s hard to be overdressed in Dallas. If wining and dining is on your to-do list, be sure to pack your glad rags but maybe opt for some dressy flats as you’ll be guaranteed to be doing some walking. For daytime, light layers and comfortable shoes are ideal for sightseeing, but be sure to pack a rain jacket for those unpredictable moments.

Where to go on holiday in Dallas?

Downtown Dallas boasts the highest concentration of the city’s tourist attractions, from museums to live music venues, so be sure to carve out some solid time exploring Downtown. Deep Ellum is one of the city’s oldest and most historic neighbourhoods and is lined with live-music venues. Uptown and Bishop Arts District are ideal for those who can’t resist a little retail therapy, while Oak Lawn is popular with Dallas’ LGBTIQA+ community. The Arts District is spread over 20 square blocks so be sure to allow enough time for museum hopping, eating and drinking.
