Tasmania

Tasmania

‘A land of uniqueness! Unique animals, unique countryside, unique food, unique art, unique hotels and unique culture’

Nowhere else can you bask in sunshine by a beautiful harbour in the morning then hike amongst wombats in the snow in the afternoon. In the evening you can even dine with the Devil (Tasmanian Devil that is) – what could be more unique?

If this doesn’t appeal, you could indulge in a city break staying in a luxury hotel in the beautiful Hobart Harbour! The MACq01 is a storytelling hotel with every room named and designed after an inspiring person from Tasmania…. And it serves the best breakfast EVER! #pasteldenataforbreakfast’ – Nikki Metcalfe, Senior Manager - Infinity

Oman

Oman

‘Oman is a captivating blend of old and new. Its capital of Muscat has bustling souks, luxurious hotels and ancient cultural attractions just waiting to be discovered. It is a gateway to spectacular scenery – from sleeping under the stars in a luxury desert camp to exploring mountains described as the ‘Grand Canyon of Arabia’, to swimming in hidden wadis and relaxing on the beautiful coastline. In Oman there is truly something for everyone! On top of this the climate is unique in the Middle East with summer temperatures averaging 35 degrees and winter lows of 21 – a perfect all year holiday destination.’ - Libby Robertson, Destination Owner – Europe & Middle East

Waiheke Island

Waiheke Island, New Zealand

‘I absolutely love Waiheke Island, in New Zealand, which is actually home to my favourite hotel in the world – The Boatshed Waiheke. On arrival you’re greeted with a welcome wine and cheese board which you can eat by the fire with the resident dog. It’s a true boutique with only a handful of rooms but offering the full service of a 5-star hotel. The best thing about Waiheke is the vineyards and we have some great tour offerings such as Gourmets Food and Wine Tour which includes tasting at the three different vineyards. If that’s not for you, the island has plenty of gorgeous beaches to explore as well as quirky independent shops and art galleries’. – Emily Hyslop, Destination Owner - Australasia

South Carolina

South Carolina

‘South Carolina is definitely my top pick for the most exciting destination of 2020. This year, a new BA route started flying into Charleston, twice a week in the summer. Charleston has incredible cuisine and a great southern comfort food scene, as well as plenty of old-world Southern charm, history (historic homes, Civil War, plantation houses etc). You’ll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful hotels to stay in - like the Belmond for example (available in our Handpicked collection). Meanwhile, inland there are some really cool places to visit including scenic lakes, golf spots, breweries and mountains to the west. Along the coast of South Carolina, you’ve got beautiful beach areas like Hilton Head - well worth a visit.’ – Rosie Stone, Destination Owner – Americas

Montenegro

Montenegro

‘As one of the smallest nations in Europe, Montenegro certainly has it all – from alluring old towns, spectacular nature and a growing abundance of luxury hotels from which to enjoy this gem of the Balkans.’

‘It is the perfect place to just relax and tuck into mouth-watering food, but if you’re the active type, also provides access to some of the best hiking in Europe in the Black Mountains. My personal recommendation is the Bay of Kotor with its picture-perfect surroundings and exquisite hotels to choose from. Only a two-hour drive from Dubrovnik and with direct flights from the UK to Tivat airport, it is definitely one to watch for 2020!’ – Libby Robertson, Destination Owner – Europe & Middle East

Japan

Japan

‘For years Japan was seen as exclusive by many, mainly on price. But Japan now represents the epitome of undiscovered Asia. The appeal of Japan has been boosted over a number of years due to the desire of many to seek out 'new' experiences full of authenticity, which is where Japan can excel. The country is rich in culture, with a history to rival Britain’s, (and endless temples and architecture to prove it). Food lovers can rejoice in Japan too, whilst the great outdoors serves up snowy powder-tipped mountains in the winter and serene green hiking trails come spring, not forgetting the natural wonder of the cherry blossoms in bloom that are celebrated each April. And to round it off, the city life and lights of Tokyo will both bamboozle and delight visitors. The Rugby World Cup and the 2020 Olympics have continued to boost the popularity of the destination, but it's really the authenticity of Japan that leaves everyone craving for more or desperate to go; Japan doesn’t bend its way of life for visitors, yet its welcoming, polite and respectful nature make it ever more appealing.’ – Tom Grapes, Destination Owner – Asia & Africa

Namibia

Namibia

‘Namibia is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream and a world away from any other part of Africa in so many ways. Once part of Windhoek, the country is a sparsely populated land of mountain ridges, desert and sand dunes so tall they name them. It offers the adventure of a lifetime for those intrepid enough to take on the Mars-like terrain, throwing up red, orange and yellow hues amidst the dust. For those in search of more comfort once they kick off their boots, the country is dotted with beautiful eco lodges sympathetic to the land and with a purposeful lack of large scale development. Namibia remains exclusive in its availability but achievable on a budget. From Etosha National Park (one of the most stunning places I have ever been on safari) to Fish River Canyon (the largest in Africa) and famous Sossusvlei National Park (is there anything more insta-worthy than a sunrise here?) All in all, Namibia delivers exceptional beauty and a unique holiday like no other.’ – Tom Grapes, Destination Owner – Asia & Africa
