There aren't many feelings that beat 'turning left' on a plane. That's because you're likely flying in Business Class on your flight and enjoying the many luxury perks that come with it. The lie-flat seat. The restaurant-quality food. The attentive service. Everything about the Business Class experience exudes, well, class, making it well worth the upgrade from the standard Economy and Premium Economy seats most travellers fly in.

Business Class travel also offers airlines the chance to show off a bit more of their personality, and introduce their own unique Business Class products that will make you feel instantly comfortable and at home, from the moment you board. To really highlight what each one offers in its premium cabins, here we break down the best Business Class offerings from some of our favourite airlines...

Virgin Atlantic

Known as Upper Class, Virgin Atlantic's Business Class offers the excellent amenities and friendly onboard service we've come to know and love about the airline. The seat itself offers plenty of room to stretch out, while delicious food and over 300 hours of entertainment are designed to keep you smiling throughout the flight. When your eyes are feeling heavy, the seat reclines fully and the cotton pillows and duvet will have you sleeping like a baby.

But where Virgin Atlantic really shines is with its world-class service and communal areas. As soon as you step onboard, the airline's flight attendants will offer you a glass of bubbly. This home-from-home feeling continues in its social areas away from your seat where, depending on the type of plane you're flying on, you can cosy up in The Booth, grab a drink in The Bar or relax with a film in The Loft.

Delta Air Lines

The experience of Delta's Business Class, called Delta One, begins from the moment you step foot in the airport, with speedy check-in, security and baggage handling service. You'll also have unbridled access to the business class lounge, the Delta One Lounge, where you can enjoy a delicious pre-flight meal and decompress in the knowledge that you're dodging the usual stress of an airport.

On the flight itself, Delta offers one of the most private business class seats with its full-height doors, while a chef-curated meal service on your large dining table tray will have you reconsidering what an in-flight meal really is with its seasonal flavours, expertly paired wines and a unique 'farmer's tea'. When you disembark, the deluxe Missoni amenity kit and its Alchemist skincare products have been crafted specially for Delta.

United Airlines

United's Polaris Business Class suites are universal across all of the airline's long-haul flights, an experience that promises the best sleep in the sky. But this is not merely marketing jargon, as Saks Fifth Avenue bedding and gel-cooled pillows will have you feeling like you really are sleeping on a cloud.

To ramp up the relaxation factor, amenity kits and a dedicated relaxation channel curated by Therabody will slow your pulse further. Each seat also offers direct aisle access. The culinary onboard offering in United's Polaris cabins takes passengers and their palates on a round-the-world tour and, if you've a sweet tooth, you'll really be in your element here. With each in-flight service, you have the choice to create your perfect ice cream with a made-to-order sundae. Call us a kid in a sweet shop, but this is Business Class done right...

Air Canada

Air Canada's long-haul Signature Class cabin will have your body melting into your seat from the moment you sink into it, with its massage function and lumbar support ensuring you feel ultra-comfortable from take-off to landing. Your personal touchscreen controls offer a visual catalogue of movies, TV shows, podcasts, music and more.

This boundless array of entertainment is complemented by meals curated by Canadian culinary experts – depending on your flight and plane, you could be eating a main course like seared cod or panko-coated chicken breast, followed by chocolate truffle torte.

If you're travelling from London Heathrow, prepare for your flight in one of the airline's Maple Leaf lounges, complete with free Wi-Fi, complimentary beverages and food from the live cooking stations. If you're flying from Canada following your holiday, you can take advantage of Air Canada's priority check-in counters, Maple Leaf lounges and a dedicated concierge service to help you every step of the way at international airports in Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto.

Singapore Airlines

Experiencing the Business Class product that Singapore Airlines offers is one the closest experiences you'll get to feeling like an A-lister. If you're flying from London Heathrow, this experience not only guarantees fast-track security and priority boarding, but the chance to indulge in its newly refreshed SilverKris Business Class Lounge, where you can take a shower, sip on your favourite cocktails, and sample a sumptuous buffet where the food is made fresh daily.

But don't eat too much, as you can start thinking about your mile-high meals before you board with Singapore Airlines' unique 'Book the Cook' service, which lets you choose your food up to 24 hours before you fly.

Onboard, your cocoon-shaped pitch and retractable dividers offers the ultimate in privacy, while the latest films and TV shows on the 18.8-inch HD screen ensures you don't need to look far for your own entertainment. Remember that top-notch meal you ordered via the 'Book the Cook' service? That will soon be winging its way to you, along with a perfectly matched wine from some of the planet's finest vineyards, thanks to the onboard sommelier. When it's time to refresh after a long flight, a luxury selection of toiletries courtesy of Penhaligon's of London will come to your rescue.

Malaysia Airlines

A memorable journey with Malaysia Airlines is made with a generous dose of the warm hospitality the country is famous for. Malaysia Airlines' network of airline partners means you can often enjoy a Business Vlass lounge experience worldwide, although in Kuala Lumpur the airline's signature Golden Lounge is a thoroughly special experience, laced in Malaysian culture and cuisine.

In the Business Class cabin itself, there's a selection of good amenities, from a generous mix of old and new movies, along with plenty of other entertainment, while a decadent Aspinal of London amenity kit ensures you feel pampered during the flight. Touches of Malaysian culture are never far away though, something best evidenced by the consistent offering of delicious satay before every three-course meal, and the warm goodbyes the cabin crew extend to you when you disembark the plane.

Turkish Airlines

As with every Business Class flight, Turkish Airlines' premium cabin puts its passengers first. But what really sets the airline apart is how at ease the cabin crew make you feel. Turkey is renowned for its excellent hospitality and it really shows here, being one of the few airlines to offer a turn-down service in its Business Class product. Throw in some comfortable bedding and you've got a recipe for a great night's sleep.

Noise-cancelling Denon headphones and a stylish Lanvin Perfumes amenity kit help you wind down even further. When you start to feel peckish, you'll have a feast waiting for you in the award-winning dishes Turkish Airlines serves. Among them are Turkish favourites like coal-fired kebabs and Anatolian bread, which is made from wheat grown in the same fields that's said to be where the first bread was made, some 12,000 years ago. To round off every meal, you'll be served a steaming cup of Turkish coffee and a portion of Turkish delight.

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways regularly scoops awards for boasting the best Business Class cabin in the world, and it's easy to see why. Elegantly designed, generously sized interiors and a perceptive crew make for a winning combination that elevates your sky-high experience. An ever-changing menu means only in-season ingredients are used in the onboard cuisine, so enjoy dishes like duo of lamb for main course and pistachio mousse for dessert. This is in-flight dining redefined.

With your stomach happy, it's also good to know there's little chance of you being bored on a Qatar Airways flight, with the comprehensive Oryx One entertainment system offering thousands of options to keep you busy on both the outbound and inbound legs. When it's time to sleep, slip into loungewear courtesy of The White Company and freshen up before you leave the plane with toiletries supplied by Diptyque.

And all this without even mentioning Qatar Airways' QSuite Business Class, available on select planes. This standard of cabin is akin to having a first-class experience in a Business Class suite, where the addition of doors and ambient lighting add another layer of privacy to your experience. But QSuite's trump card is in its flexibility. Its movable panels mean that, whether you're a solo traveller, group of friends, a couple or a family, its innovative layouts can be adapted so you share a cocoon, enabling you to socialise, dine and relax together 40,000 feet in the sky.
